Concert zither made by GUNZELMANN in Nurnberg, Germany. 1890s.
A rare concert zither with a cast metal frame. An unusual system which really makes it resonate louder.
Very pretty engravings on the sides and top. A lovely ebony hinged hand rail, that also hides the string pins.
The mechanics/tuning keys are in working order. Very pretty engraved mechanics cover plate. The tuning pins are fairly tight in their holes, holding the tuning. Strings are in good condition (36 strings in total), set up for Munich tuning. (If you want to play the theme tune to "The Third Man"!)
No cracks on the top or back. The 3 feet it stands on have little spikes to stop it slipping.
It is 67cm long and 35cm wide.
Comes in its original wooden case and does have a tuning key.
The zither weighs 3.7kg. In its case 6.8kg
